For covered balconies and terraces protected from rain, IP44 is enough. For exposed walls, exposed entries, or installations directly hit by rain, choose IP65. For most Italian climates (mild winter, occasional rain), IP44 is enough under cover. For high mountain areas with heavy snow or coastal areas with salt spray, choose IP65. Saline air degrades finishes faster regardless of IP, so coastal installations need bronze or stainless rather than brass. Check your zone before deciding.

For coastal Italian installations, choose bronze, dark bronze, or stainless steel finishes. Avoid lacquered brass, polished nickel, and chrome which corrode faster in salt air.
