Visual Comfort Living Room Pendants

Living room pendants work in three spots. Over a low coffee table as a focal piece (bottom at 130-150 cm from floor). In a stairwell or double-height void as a vertical statement. As a sculptural accent in a corner above a reading chair. Avoid centering one in the middle of an empty living room ceiling.

In a walking area, the bottom of the pendant should be at least 2.1 m from the floor. Over a coffee table or seating area where no one walks, 130-160 cm from the floor is fine, since the pendant becomes a sculptural piece above the surface. Adjust to your ceiling and use.

Pick a single sculptural piece rather than a complex chandelier-style shape. Solid silhouettes (glass globes, drum shades, simple cones) read clean even when hanging low. Avoid pendants with arms, multiple bulbs, or busy patterns at low heights, they crowd the space and dominate the room visually.
