Are Visual Comfort lamps ready to plug into an EU socket?

Yes. Every table and floor lamp ships with an EU Type F (Schuko) plug compatible with Italian and standard European sockets. No electrician required, simply unbox, fit the shade, add a bulb and plug in. If your wall outlet is the Italian Type L (round 3-pin), an adapter is included on request.

What height should a bedside lamp be?

The bottom of the shade should sit roughly at eye level when you are seated in bed reading, usually 50-60 cm above the mattress top. Match this to the height of your bedside table and combined fixture: with a 60 cm tall table, choose a lamp 45-55 cm tall. Visual Comfort bedside lamps typically range 50-75 cm overall.

Which Visual Comfort designers should I look at for table and floor lamps?

Visual Comfort & Co. collaborates with a curated roster of designers, each with a distinct style. [AERIN] (Aerin Lauder) offers refined, feminine pieces with antique brass and crystal accents. [Ralph Lauren Home] focuses on classic Americana and architectural shapes. [Suzanne Kasler] brings southern elegance with linen shades and soft silhouettes. [Thomas O'Brien] designs in a transitional industrial style. [Chapman & Myers] specialises in traditional library and study lamps. Most popular table lamps at VC Gallery come from AERIN and Suzanne Kasler.

Are bulbs and shades included?

Shades are included with every Visual Comfort lamp and match the designer specification. Bulbs are not included by default, since most clients prefer to choose colour temperature (2700K warm white for bedrooms, 3000K for living rooms) and wattage themselves. We can add EU-spec LED bulbs to your order at cost on request.

Can floor lamps be used next to a sofa or reading chair?

Yes. For sofa-side reading, choose a floor lamp 145-165 cm tall so the bottom of the shade sits just above shoulder height when seated. Swing-arm and adjustable models like Boston Functional Library or Channing offer the most flexibility. Tripod and arc lamps work better as ambient lighting rather than direct reading lights.

Which table or floor lamp pairs best with a Visual Comfort chandelier in the same room?

For a cohesive layered lighting scheme, match the finish and designer family. If you have an [Visual Comfort & Co.] chandelier in aged iron, choose floor and table lamps in the same finish for visual consistency. In a living room with a large [Chandeliers] as the focal point, add 2-3 table lamps on side tables and one floor lamp by the reading chair, all at lower wattage (40-60W equivalent) to create a warm secondary layer. Designer collections like AERIN and Ralph Lauren include matching chandelier-lamp pairs.
