My kitchen doesn't have an island, where do pendants go?

Without an island, pendants work over the breakfast nook table, the dining peninsula, or a prep counter against a wall. Avoid placing pendants in the middle of empty floor space, they always need a surface or zone below them to anchor visually. For ceiling-only lighting, use flush mounts.

Do kitchen pendants need to be damp-rated?

Only if installed directly over the sink or within 60 cm of the splash zone. For island and breakfast pendants away from water, indoor-rated is fine. Over the sink, choose damp-rated IP44 or higher. Check the product page for the IP rating before buying.

How bright should kitchen pendants be?

Aim for 800-1200 lumens per pendant for task light over an island or counter. For two pendants over a 180 cm island, 1500-2000 lumens total works. Always dimmable so you can scale back to ambient at meal times. Use 2700-3000K warm white, avoid anything cooler in residential kitchens.
