Julie Neill is an artist and lighting designer from New Orleans. She trained as a fine artist and interior designer, and in the late 1990s she designed her first chandelier for a decorator show house. That single commission redirected her practice into bespoke lighting. For over 25 years she has run Julie Neill Designs from 3908 Magazine Street, drawing each fixture by hand at life-size scale before it is translated into CAD and produced. Her collection for Visual Comfort brought that custom studio work to a wider audience while keeping the hand feel. Start with Talia. It is Julie's signature chandelier line, inspired by the art of glassblowing, and it is the largest family in Europe with 18 sizes and configurations. From there, Alberto is the next natural layer, 13 pieces with classical proportion and an artisan feel across chandeliers, sconces and pendants. The Talia chandelier is on display at the VC Gallery showroom in Milan, in different sizes so you can gauge the proportion for a dining table, a foyer or a stairwell against the eye and against a specific ceiling height.
