Iconic IDL Collections

IDL, in depth

Everything you might want to know before ordering an IDL fixture from VC Gallery.

"How do I know I'm buying authentic IDL lighting?"

IDL fixtures are made in-house at the IDL workshop in Fanzolo di Vedelago, near Treviso. VC Gallery is an authorized IDL dealer: orders are placed with the factory directly and each fixture is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Authorized dealer. We order every piece from IDL; nothing comes from third-party stock.
Made in-house. IDL designs its products and makes them in its own workshop, with most of its suppliers within 15 km of the company.

If you are comparing IDL against unauthorized resellers, send us the SKU and we will confirm the piece against the current IDL catalogue before you order.

"Does IDL ship to Italy, France, Germany and the rest of Europe?"

Yes. IDL collections are made to order after your order is confirmed, then delivered across Italy and Europe. The lead time is shown on each product page; for most models it is currently 45 to 60 days. Larger custom pieces are confirmed in the quote.

Because every piece is made to order, delivery is calculated in your quote. The United Kingdom, the United States and the rest of the world are served on request. Full terms: IDL delivery. For an estimate on a large project, send us the SKU list and site postcode through the contact page.

Made in Fanzolo di Vedelago

IDL was founded in 1987 by Lino Feltrin and Antonio Piva in Fanzolo di Vedelago, in the province of Treviso, near Venice. Metal is the material the company knows best: it has specialized in it for more than 40 years.

The heart of IDL is its 2,000 square metre workshop in Fanzolo, which combines traditional and modern machinery with an archive of moulds built up over the years and a 15-metre workbench at the centre of the department. IDL produces in-house, and most of its suppliers are within 15 km of the company. After the death of Antonio Piva in 2012, Cristian Feltrin, who grew up and trained in the family workshop, became the sole designer and artistic director. Discover the full IDL catalog.

The IDL Design Voice

IDL designs its collections in-house under the artistic direction of Cristian Feltrin, which gives the catalogue a coherent identity across families.

Cristian Feltrin. Sole designer and artistic director, trained inside the family workshop.
Finishes. Matte metallic green, blue and red, matt bronze and matt white on Loop and Endless; gold, nickel, steel and Corten tones on Acropora; painted and brass finishes on Mangrove.
Custom-first mindset. About half of IDL's production is non-standard pieces made for specific projects.

"Which IDL collections are the most iconic?"

Four collections define the IDL range at VC Gallery, each with its own form and finishes.

Acropora. A sculptural coral-inspired design with a satin plexiglass diffuser and integrated LED, in seven finishes from antique gold to Corten and steel.
Loop. Geometric loops in five matte finishes, from pendants and chandeliers to wall, table and floor lamps.
Endless. Chandeliers, linear suspensions and sconces in the same five matte metallic finishes.
Mangrove. A sculptural family of chandeliers, wall lights and floor lamps with a satin plexiglass diffuser, in painted or burnished brass finishes.

How to Choose an IDL Fixture for Your Room

IDL collections span chandeliers, wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps, and each family behaves differently once installed.

Start from the room. A dining table wants an Endless or Loop chandelier; a hallway wants smaller Loop pendants; a living room can take a sculptural Mangrove piece.
Confirm the size and drop. Dimensions are listed on each product page, and the drop can be adjusted on request.
Match the finish. Loop and Endless share five matte finishes, Mangrove has painted and brass finishes, Acropora comes in seven metal tones.

"Will an IDL fixture work on European mains, and what's the warranty?"

IDL fixtures are made in Italy for European mains, ready to install, with no adapter needed between the fixture and the mains.

Voltage. European 220–240V on every collection.
Warranty. Every fixture is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Light source. The IDL models we offer have integrated LED, so no bulbs are needed.
Certification. CE marked.

Trade Program and Custom IDL Commissions

IDL has always treated custom production as core business: about half of its output is non-standard pieces. The Fanzolo workshop develops non-standard chandeliers of five to eight metres directly from the architect's drawing, for spaces over ten to fifteen metres high. IDL contract projects hang in cathedrals in the Middle East and in India, in hotels and in ceremonial halls.

For an oversized commission, the factory assembles the chandelier at its full height before shipping, photographs and films it as proof that it is finished, then disassembles it with every element individually labelled so it can be reassembled on site. VC Gallery works with architects, interior designers and hospitality studios across Europe through the trade program and coordinates the order with IDL. For a custom quote or a large contract chandelier, use the contact page with the SKU list, drop, finish and site drawings.

I was a little nervous when purchasing a large chandelier from VC Gallery Milan as this was my first purchase and a high value item. I took my time to make my decision. I placed my order at the end of March and received the item at the end of April. I dealt with Svetlana who made sure to keep in touch with me from start to finish. She also checked in once the item was delivered to see if everything was fine. It was a while before my electrician had the availability to install the chandelier. But once the item was installed I let Svetlana know that all parts were intact and installed. All in all I had a really positive experience. I would just say that sometimes the 14 days to raise any concerns post delivery may not be feasible for larger items that require trades people to unbox and install.
