Vimercati delivery across Europe

VC Gallery is an authorized dealer of Vimercati, the Meda atelier founded in 1920 by Achille Vimercati and today led by the third generation of the family. Every dining table, cabinet, boiserie, bedroom set, and hand-painted piece is produced in the historic Brianza workshop through hand-carving, gold and silver leaf gilding, marquetry inlays, and traditional French polish finishing with bees wax. Delivery is quoted individually per project. Here is how it works.

How a Vimercati order reaches you

Every Vimercati piece is produced to your specification after your order is confirmed at VC Gallery. Once the wood essence is selected, the frame carved, the surfaces inlaid or gilded, and the French polish applied, we prepare the shipment and coordinate delivery to your address across Europe. Because classical furniture logistics depend on volume, weight, protective crating, and destination, we quote each delivery individually. You receive a full quote before you commit, and tracking once the shipment is dispatched. Our Milan address at Via Filippo Turati 3 is our showroom, open by appointment for clients who wish to see wood essences, gilding samples, marquetry patterns, and upholstery combinations in person.

Vimercati is Made in Italy to European standards, hand-crafted in the Meda workshop since 1920 in the heart of the Brianza furniture district. Pieces arrive ready for interior placement and do not require electrical adaptation. The atelier is known for the Ermitage Empire collection, Louis XV and Louis XVI style bedrooms and living rooms, the Maggiolini-inspired Lombardo line with rich inlays, hand-painted chinoiserie, and custom boiserie and portals developed on project. Three generations of the Vimercati family (Achille the founder, Marco and Giacomo, and today Umberto, Enrico, and Sandro) have carried forward the atelier tradition of carving, gilding, marquetry, and traditional polishing that defines every piece.

How Vimercati delivery is calculated

Vimercati is made to order in hand-carved wood with gilded and inlaid surfaces, and every piece is different in volume, weight, and finish. There is no fixed rate. Delivery is quoted individually per project, based on four factors.

  • Volume and weight Frame construction, solid wood mass, inlaid panel sizes, and total kilograms drive the freight class. A single Louis XVI bedside travels very differently from a full Ermitage dining ensemble with credenza and mirror, and boiserie panels have their own volumetric profile that can require multiple crates.
  • Origin and packaging Every piece leaves Meda in a custom-built wooden crate with foam edge protection, corner blocks, and moisture barriers designed for hand-carved and gilded surfaces in transit; this is included in the quote and reflects the fragility of gold leaf edges, delicate inlays, and hand-painted panels.
  • Destination Delivery to Italy and mainland European Union is straightforward. Islands, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, and remote regions may need road-plus-ferry or dedicated freight, plus access checks for ZTL zones, historic staircases, and buildings without lift, which matter more when moving large classical pieces and boiserie panels.
  • Timeline A flexible delivery window often reduces cost. Sharing your target date early usually gives the best rate, and consolidated freight is more economical than dedicated single-project trucks. Expedited delivery aligned with a site installation window, common for boiserie and hospitality contract, is available and priced separately.

Full quote is sent to you before you confirm the order, and no invoice includes an unknown delivery cost. For a rapid estimate, contact us with the SKU, destination, and any timeline preference you have.

Production and delivery time

Vimercati is hand-crafted to order, so total time is production plus transit.

StageTime
Production at the Vimercati atelier10 to 12 weeks
Transit (Italy and mainland European Union)7 to 14 days
Transit (islands and remote regions)quoted per project

Production time starts from order confirmation and can vary by piece complexity, level of inlay, gilding surface area, and hand-painted detail. Bespoke dimensions, custom marquetry, hand-painted chinoiserie, boiserie on project, or contract and hospitality orders may add time; this is confirmed on the SKU at order time. Sending your project details early always helps our production planning and often improves the delivery cost.

White Glove delivery

Vimercati pieces are large, hand-carved, and delicate at gilded surfaces and inlaid panels. White Glove service is available on request and covers everything from truck to final placement.

  • Delivery to the room of your choice Not only to the door, but into the space where the piece will live, including stairs, tight corridors, and buildings without lift access, with the right equipment to handle carved and boiserie elements.
  • Unpacking and inspection Crates opened, protective materials removed, every piece inspected for surface finish, gold and silver leaf edges, marquetry integrity, hand-painted panels, and any chip or scratch, with concerns documented before we leave.
  • Positioning and setup Placement on the chosen surface, felt pads applied where relevant, drawers and doors aligned, hand-cast brass hardware checked, and boiserie panels aligned wall by wall on project.
  • Waste removal Crates, foam, cardboard, and protective wrapping collected and disposed of responsibly.

White Glove is optional and quoted alongside the delivery cost, based on destination and access. It is available for every Vimercati order across Europe and we strongly recommend it for boiserie and portal projects, full bedroom and dining ensembles, credenzas and cabinets with heavy carvings, hand-painted chinoiserie pieces, or any project involving multiple rooms of a residence or a hospitality installation. Request it on the contact form with your project details.

Countries served

Vimercati ships to the following destinations via VC Gallery:

  • Italy direct delivery, quoted per project.

United Kingdom is not currently served through VC Gallery for Vimercati orders. For any destination not listed, contact us for an individual quote. Vimercati has an established presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on contract projects; project-specific destinations outside standard Europe can be handled on request.

VAT on Vimercati orders

Prices shown on VC Gallery include Italian VAT at 22 percent by default. On checkout, the total is recalculated according to the destination country under standard European Union rules. EU B2B clients with a valid VIES VAT number receive an invoice without VAT under intra-EU reverse charge. For non-EU destinations such as Switzerland or Norway, Italian VAT is removed and local import taxes apply on arrival, handled through the shipping documentation, on a DDP or DAP basis agreed at the quotation stage. Contract, hospitality, and trade orders receive a full VAT-adjusted quote at the offer stage. Full VAT and customs detail is confirmed on the invoice before you commit.

Customization and delivery

Vimercati is a bespoke atelier by tradition, so customization is a core part of the offer. Wood essence selection across walnut, cherry, rosewood, ebony, and burr veneers; finishes from natural French polish with bees wax to hand-applied gold and silver leaf and aged bronze; dimensions within the structural limits of the chosen piece; upholstery in full-grain leather, silk-blend fabric, or velvet; hand-cast brass or custom bronze hardware; marquetry pattern variations inspired by Maggiolini, Louis XV, or Empire references; hand-painted chinoiserie panels; and full boiserie and portal projects for residential or hospitality settings are all possible on many collections. Send us the SKU, the reference drawings, and your preferences, and we confirm what the atelier can produce and how it affects timing.

Bespoke orders typically add at least 2 weeks on top of standard production time. On larger projects (full villa interiors, hospitality lobbies, boiserie for reception areas, or hand-painted chinoiserie rooms), we recommend planning delivery well in advance so the atelier can align wood sourcing, carving, gilding, and shipment. All lead times are confirmed before you commit.

What to do on delivery day

Vimercati pieces are large, gilded surfaces are delicate, hand-painted panels are irreplaceable, and boiserie elements need close attention on arrival. Checking the shipment at delivery is essential.

  1. Photograph the outer crate and any protective wrapping before opening.
  2. If the crate shows visible damage, open it in the presence of the driver.
  3. Check every surface under indirect light for scratches, dents, or dull spots, and inspect gilded edges, marquetry inlays, and hand-painted panels for any chip or lift.
  4. For boiserie and portal panels, verify absence of cracks in the wood body and that all trim, mouldings, and mounting hardware are complete.
  5. Do not sign the delivery note as accepted until you are satisfied the piece is intact, and if damage is present, take photos and contact VC Gallery within 24 hours.

Why this matters. Transport insurance claims are honored only when damage is reported at delivery. If you sign the delivery note as accepted and inspect the piece later, proving in-transit damage becomes very difficult, and gold leaf and hand-painted surfaces are very difficult to restore invisibly if the initial damage was not documented. If you have booked White Glove service, our delivery team performs the inspection with you and documents any issue on the spot.

Returns and claims

  • Returns (change of mind) Vimercati is produced to your specification in your chosen wood essence, finish, marquetry, gilding, and dimensions, so there is no refund on change of mind. Please review essence, finish, gilding, upholstery, and dimensions carefully before confirming the order. Our team can help by email or in the Milan showroom, and wood, gilding, and fabric samples can be sent on request.
  • Manufacturing defect Finish flaw, structural instability in the frame, cracked or lifted marquetry, gilding defect, or similar production issue. Send photos and describe the defect. Options: on-site repair by a specialist (we reimburse up to a project-specific limit) or full replacement of the affected element. Return shipping is free.
  • Transport damage Chipped gilded edges, cracked wood, scratched surfaces, damaged hand-painted panels, broken hardware, or misaligned boiserie discovered at delivery. Photograph and report immediately. We file an insurance claim with the carrier and arrange repair or replacement. Return shipping is free.
  • Wrong item If VC Gallery or Vimercati shipped the wrong SKU, wood essence, gilding, or finish, we arrange free exchange. Return shipping is free.

Full policy on the returns page and claims page. For contract and hospitality orders, warranty and claim terms follow the project agreement.
